![]() ![]() also, if you check the cache option in Vray DR settings you can tell Vray to store the transferred assets on your slaves so they dont have to receive it every time you press render, this greatly reduces the time it take the slaves to start rendering. Autodesk Backburner is the 3ds Max network-rendering management software, also used by products such as Autodesk Flame and Autodesk Smoke. Tbh if you a rendering single frames (stills, not animations) then using Vray DR is waaay easier than setting up backburner, simply launch Vray DR spawner on your slaves, and in the Vray DR settings make sure to turn on "transfer assets" that way Vray will send whatever maps and assets you have in the scene to the slaves, no need to put them in a shared folder for all slaves to access, doing it this way is a lot easier, only drawback is that you might see an increase in the time it takes for the slaves to start rendering as they need to receive everything before they start, this ofc varies with network speed, if you are running a gigabit Ethernet between your machines (with cat5e cables and above to insure high-speed) then you should be good :D this is the way i run my farm when rendering stills. ![]()
